Beat Traffic on Labor Day Weekend

Beat Traffic on Labor Day

School just started, so…who’s ready for a three day weekend?! I am! Every year my family goes for a mini-vacation during Labor Day weekend and every year we end up getting stuck in traffic. All these trial and error trips have given me a few tips to avoid those annoying jams.

Avoid rush hours – I tend to avoid the times between 7am-9am and 4pm-7pm. Those are usually the times I experience the worse traffic. Traffic times varies for each city, so yours might be different from mine.

Carpool – When traveling with friends and family, we try to take one to two cars max. By traveling together in one car, we can avoid the incident of losing each other and we spend less gas. Two birds with one stone.

Backup route – Thanks to our smart phone, we can quickly see where the traffic is and how to avoid it. I don’t know how many times my GPS has saved me from having to sit in traffic with all this road construction around Dallas-Fort Worth.

Holiday traffic doesn’t have to be a part of traveling anymore, if you’re traveling smart. I’ve had my fair share of sitting in traffic, whether it’s going to work or going on a trip. And I’m sure you feel the same way too. How do you avoid holiday traffic?
