Week One Question (February 3 — 9, 2014) — How do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?
Decorating for Valentine’s Day can be exciting — the anticipation of a celebration to come. I try to keep decorations for Valentine’s Day simple in my house. A little red, a splash of pink with a side of hearts will get the job done.
The little people in my life get excited for the extra holiday crafts and craziness that goes with the holiday. And my significant other is reminded just how much he is loved and appreciated.
Below are a few decorating ideas that you’ll find in my house on Valentine’s Day.
1. Simple garland — hang a simple Valentine garland in the kitchen, across the fireplace mantle, or in your kids’ room. You can make one (tons of ideas on Pinterest) or support your favorite handmade mom on Etsy.
2. Wreath — hang a Valentine wreath on the front door or over your fireplace. Wreaths are not just for Christmas; make a simple or elaborate wreath to announce that you’re ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
3. Table decorations — decorate the dining table with festive Valentine decorations. You can make simple hearts out of construction paper to sprinkle on the table or add red, white or pink candles. Use a red tablecloth and breakout the fancy candlesticks for a romantic dinner (or breakfast).
